Live Streaming Access

Northern Lights has added high definition Live Streaming capability to all eight of its courts.  It will be available for all of the events that take place at Midwest Volleyball Warehouse.   No outside video recording or streaming of events is permitted in the facility, this includes recruiting/stating services such as Hudl.   (see below about downloading video for use with these other services)

The cost to view the event is usually the same as it costs to enter the building to view the event live ($8.00 for club season, $5.00 for the Fall League).  This will be seen when you following the instructions below.  The feed will begin once the fee is paid.

How to Access Pay-Per-View Streaming Video

  1. Go to the schedule to determine which court and which day you are interested in viewing or downloading.
  2. In your web browser on the device you will be using to watch the video, go to the Northern Lights website (www.northernlightsjuniors.org) and under the “Streaming” menu, pick the day you wish to stream (MVW Courts Saturday Streaming or MVW Courts Sunday Streaming).
  3. Under the words “Select Playlist” click on the words “Saturday Court 1”.   This will open the drop box showing all available cameras/courts.  Select the Court you wish to view.
  4. You will be presented with the camera for that court or if there are previous video recordings on that day you will have the option to pick one of those.
  5. To view the current live stream, select the camera and click on the play button in the center of the picture on the left side of your screen.
  6. If this is your first time today selecting a court, a short 3 second preview will show and then the Pay-Per-View window will appear.
  7. To obtain access you click on the “Buy Now” button and it will open a new window with PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account; you can pay by credit card.  PayPal is our credit card processor.  You may either pay using a PayPal account, or you may scroll down on the page and click on the gray bar that says, “Pay with Debit or Credit Card”.
  8. Follow the instructions on the PayPal Credit Card authorization site.
  9. Once you have paid you will be directed back to the camera page, and you can click on the Play button in the middle of the screen on the left.
  10. You will also receive an email confirmation of your payment. In that email there will be a “Password”.   This will allow you return to this site during the day and access the live stream, or to view/download a previous recording.   If the email is not in your inbox, check your spam filter and spam/junk folders to make sure emails are not being blocked or redirected to your spam folder when they come from either no_reply@ppvmailer.com  and will have a subject of “Thank you for purchasing a PPV ticket” or they will come from streaming@midwestvolleyball.com.  In that email will be your password/ticket number.
  11. You may switch to view a different court at any time. Your pass is good for the entire day.

Special Notes:

  • When you purchase a viewing pass, it will only work on the web browser that you have purchased it on. For example: if you are on a desktop computer and using Google Chrome, you will only be able to view the live stream or previous recordings on that specific computer and only using Google Chrome.   You will not be able to use the password to gain access on any other computer or any mobile device.   Only one device & one browser is allowed per purchase.
  • Recordings on the courts are in 2 hour segments. They are available for viewing/downloading only until 11:59 pm on the Wednesday following the event.   After that time, they are automatically removed.
  • You must have cookies enabled for this site.  If you do not, and you leave the viewing page, you will not be able to get back in without your ticket/password which is emailed to you.
  • Do not clear cookies from your computer/device when using Pay-Per-View.  You will likely delete your access to the Live Steam if you do this.

Why is no outside video recording/Streaming allowed at Midwest Volleyball Warehouse?

Quality

Our cameras are high definition/commercial quality and are mounted optimally in the center-back of the court so both sides of the courts can be seen well now that changing sides is a thing of the past.  They offer a better resolution than any other volleyball facility in Minnesota.

Safety

The number of people using tripods at volleyball events has gotten larger over the years.  Volleyballs hitting tripods poses a potential safety risk to people sitting near those tripods.  The tripods also pose a trip hazard to people walking around them as well as an obstacle to people trying to move around.

Fairness

When tripods are being used, often they are in the most optimal spots for viewing the game taking those spots away from spectators.  The more tripods there are, the harder it is for regular spectators to get a good seat.  Spectators will now not have to look around or through tripods to see the game.

Value

Our cameras enable not only your friends and family who are not at the game to view it real-time, but also provide unlimited downloading capabilities for ~3 subsequent days.  Downloaded high definition video can be saved for future viewing and also be uploaded into programs like Hudl.  Once the video is downloaded, it can be edited, stored, shared and sent as you wish.  Our video streaming service also makes it unnecessary to lug your camera equipment and tripod to events held at our site.
