2018 Teams

GJNC

Congratulations to Mizuno Northern Lights 17-1s on winning the 17-Open Division at the 2018 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships! Congrats to Kyndra Hansen and Mari Hinkle on being named All Tournament plus a special shoutout to Kennedi Orr for earning the Tournament MVP!

 


AAU’s Wave 3

Mizuno Northern Lights had 5  teams participate in wave 3 of  the 45th AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championship.  Congratulations to 16-2s on 2nd place in the 16-Premier Division and 16-Red on 3rd place in the 16 Aspire Division. A special shoutout  to 16-2s; Ally Peterson, McKenna Vacek, and Lauren Link plus 16-Red; Madeline Fratzke and Mikayla Coops on being named All American Thank you to the athletes, coaches, chaperones, and parents for a great weekend and a great season!

A special shoutout  to 17-2s,Brenna Hesse and 17-Red, Linnea Larson on being named All American. Thank you to the athletes, coaches, chaperones, and parents for a great weekend and a great season!

2018 Maurice Batie Award

Congratulations to Emily Tran on earning the 2018 Maurice Batie Award of Excellence!

As a tribute to Maurice and all that he stood for, every year a graduating senior is honored with an award in his name. This award is given to someone who is “a player” and “good people” which is someone who is completely invested in the sport, willing to make others around her better, and display positive energy.

 


 


NJC

Mizuno Northern Lights had 9 teams participate in the 2018 National Junior Classic. Congratulations to 16-Blackon 1st place in the 16-Premier Division, 17-1s on 2nd place in the 17-Open Division, 15-1s on 2nd place in the 15-Open Division, 17-Red on 3rd place in the 17-Club Division, 16-2s on 3rd place in the 16-Preimier Division, and the 15-2s on 3rd place in the 15-Premier Division. Thank you to the athletes, coaches, chaperones, and parents for a great weekend!

NVC Tournament

Mizuno Northern Lights had 6 teams participate in the 2018 NVC Tournament in Rochester! Congratulations to 14-Red on taking 1st place, 14-White on taking 2nd place, and 13-Black on taking 3rd place in the 14 & Under Division! Thank you to the athletes, coaches, and parents for a great weekend!


2018 AAU Super Regional

Mizuno Northern Lights had 19 teams participate in the 2018 AAU Super Regional. Congratulations to 14-1s on 1st place in the Girls 14 & Under Division,13-1s on 2nd place in the Girls 14 & Under Division, 15-1son 1st place in the Girls 15 & Under Division,15-2son 2nd place in the Girls 15 & Under Division, 16-2s on 1st place in the Girls 16 & Under Division, 16-1son 2nd place in the Girls 16 & Under Division, and Lights 17-2s on 1st place in the Girls 18 & Under Division! Thank you to the athletes, coaches, and parents for a great weekend!


Spring Freebie

Mizuno Northern Lights had 4 teams participate in the 2018 Mizuno Northern Lights Spring Freebie! Congratulations to13-Black on going undefeated and taking 1st place in the Girls 13 & Under Division. Congratulations to14-Whiteon going undefeated as well and taking 1st place in the Girls 14 and Under Division! Congratulations to13-Red on 2nd place in the Girls 13 and Under Division and14-Red on 2nd place in the Girls 15 and Under Division!


Rochester Cup Week 2

Mizuno Northern Lights had 4 teams participate in the 2018 Rochester Cup! Congratulations to 13-1s on taking 3rd place in the 14 Elite Division! Thank you to the athletes, coaches, and parents for a great weekend!

9th annual Mizuno Northern Lights 12’s Cup

3 Mizuno Northern Lights Teams competed in the 9th annual Mizuno Northern Lights 12’s Cup! Congratulations to the12-1s for taking 1st place in the Gold Division,11-1s for taking 2nd place in the Gold Division, and the12-2s for taking 3rd place in the Silver Division. Congrats to Hadley Burger, Molly Klembarsky, McKenna Gar, and Lola Beckfor making theAll Tournament Team and a special shoutout to Maddie Dombeck for earning the tournament MVP at the 9th Annual Mizuno Northern Lights 12’s Cup! Thank you to the all the teams that competed in9th Annual Mizuno Northern Lights 12’s Cup! 


2018 GJNC

Mizuno Northern Lights Traveled 3 teams out to Anaheim, California for USA Volleyball Girls’ 18 Junior National Championship. Congratulations to the 18-1son taking 2nd place in the 18-National Division. Special shoutout to McKenna Melville, Kennedy Brady, and Isabella Ratzloff on being apart of the All Tournament Team! What a great season for 18-2s who finished 11th in the 18 USA Division and 18-Black who finished 17th in the 18 American Division! Thank you to the athletes, coaches, and parents for a great weekend!


NLQ Week 2

Northern Lights had 13 teams play in Week 2 of the 2018 Mizuno Northern Lights Qualifier! Congratulations to 17-1staking 1st place in the 17 Open Division,18-Redfor taking 2nd in the 18 Elite Division,17-2 for taking 3rd in the 17 USA Division, and16-Black for taking 3rd in the 16 USA Division! Thank you to the athletes, coaches, and parents for a great weekend!


NLQ Week 1

Northern Lights had 14 teams play in Week 1 of the 2018 Mizuno Northern Lights Qualifier! Congratulations to 13-1staking 2nd place in the 13 USA Division and the 15-2s for taking 2nd in the 15 USA Division!  Thank you to the athletes, coaches, and parents for a great weekend!


All practices for Tuesday April 3, have been cancelled due to the weather!


MNL 18’s travel to Italy!

The Northern Lights 18-1, 18-2, 18-Black, & 18-Red teams will be traveling and competing in Italy from March 25 – April 3 with BringitUSA. Pictures are posted on theNorthern Lights Facebook page and videos can be found on the Northern Lights YouTube site!  


 2018 Colorado Crossroads

Northern Lights traveled 13 teams out to Denver, Colorado for the 2018 Colorado Crossroads. On the second day we had 9 teams playing for gold! The 16-Red team took home a championship and won the 16 American Division! The 16-2team also competed in a championship and took second place. Thank you to the athletes, coaches, chaperones, and parents for a great weekend!


NCR Regional National Bid Tournament

At the 2018 NCR Regional National Bid Tournament the 18-1s took 1st place and earned a National Bid! The 18-Black took 3rd place and earned an American Bid! They will be headed to the USA Girls Junior Nationals in Anaheim, California!


Congratulations to McKenna Melville on being named as Eagan’s Athena Award winner.


All practices and lessons for Monday, March 5, have been cancelled due to the weather!


Northern Lights Golden Gopher Wall

Thank you Samantha Veliger-Swenson, Alyssa Goehner, Brittany McLean, and Molly Lohman for all your hard work and dedication! Congrats on making the Northern Lights Golden Gopher Wall!


2018 ASICS Omaha Presidents’ Day Classic

Northern Lights traveled 28 teams down to Omaha, Nebraska for the 2018 ASICS Omaha Presidents’ Day. On the second day we had 19 teams playing for championships! The 17-1,16-2, and 15-2 teams went undefeated this weekend and won the 17 Open, 16 Club, plus the 15 Club Division! The 15-1s also took home a championship and won the 15 Open Division! Thank you to the athletes, coaches, chaperones, and parents for a great weekend!


Presidents’ Day Festival

Over this past weekend we had four teams compete in the 28th NCR Presidents’ Day Festival here in the Twin Cities.
Northern Lights 12-2 5th place in the 12 Silver Division
Northern Lights 14-1 5th place in the 14 Gold Division

Biggest Events in Minneapolis – NLQ

Fun fact! The Northern Lights Qualifier brought in the 3rd largest number of out-of-town visitors in Minneapolis in 2017!

January Thaw & 18’s NLQ

Northern Lights traveled all 30 teams down to Omaha, Nebraska for the 2018 January Thaw and the 18’s National Qualifier. The 18-Black team finished 2nd in the 18 American Division in the 18’s National Qualifier! The 12-1s and 15-1s went undefeated this weekend and won the 12 Club Division and 16 Club Division! Thank you to the athletes, coaches, chaperones, and parents for a great weekend!

 


For Monday, January 22, all practices and lessons have been cancelled due to the weather.

Congratulations to NL 18’s teams  at the 2018 KC Martin Luther King Day Tournament!

Northern Lights 18s traveled to Kansas City for the 2018 KC Martin Luther King Day Tournament. The 18-2 team won the 18 USA Division and secured their bid to the USA Girls Junior Nationals in Anaheim, California! The 18-Black team finished 2nd in the 18 American Division, the 18-1 team finished 3rd the in 18 Open Division, and the 18-Red team finished 14th the in 18 American Division. We are so proud of each team as their results truly showed how hard they have been working so far, this season.

NL Netherlands/Austria Trip

From December 29 – January 6 2017 Northern Lights will be in Amsterdam Netherlands playing in a New Years tournament with both our 16-1 and our 16-2 team. Pictures are posted on the Northern Lights Facebook page and videos can be found on the Northern Lights YouTube site!
