From July 9-July 19 Northern Lights will be touring Europe visiting Berlin, Gera, Munich, Innsbruck, Verona, & Sicily and playing various European Youth teams.

June 17-26, 2013 – AAU National Championship Trip

This year Northern Lights placed 13 of it’s 24 teams into the Gold Brackets at the AAU National Championships, and won one National Championship, was 2nd two in two more Open Division finals, was 3rd in two divisions, and was 5th in six divisions. We medaled a total of 5 teams. Congratulations to 18-1, 18-2, 18-Red, 17-1, 17-2, 17-Red, 16-1, 16-2, 16-Red, 15-1, 15-White, 14-1, & 14-2 for making it into the Gold Championship Brackets. Also Thanks to all the players and parents for supporting all of our teams in the finals….you are the BEST cheering club in the nation with Kelley & Abby in the lead!

 June 14, 2013 – Northern Lights Year End Banquet

The 2013 Northern Lights Year End Banquet was a huge success with 740+ people attending. The 17-1’s winning team video was an overwhelming favorite totally embarassing the parents, the 160 scrapbook pages were very impressive and the raffle prizes were awesome. Thanks to everyone who helped with the banquet and congratulations to Tanya Witzel for winning the 2013 Northern Lights Quilt. Also congratulations to the 17-Red team which won a free team dinner with Curt that we will have in Orlando.

We also would like to extend our congratulations to Maggie Holcombe who was voted by the coaches to receive the 2013 Maurice Batie Award of Excellence at the Banquet. The award was presented to Maggie by Alex Berger, last year’s winner. Pictures of the banquet can be viewed by clicking here.

Northern Lights Wins Two Gold Championships at the National Junior Classic

Congratulations to the 17-2 team for winning the 17 Club Division in an all Northern Lights Championship beating the 17-Black Team. Afton Sobasky earned Tournament MVP while Hannah Weidner, Kelly Madison, Lauren Miller and Rachel Schmidt earned All-Tournament Team honors.

Congratulations to the 15-1 team for winning the 15 Open Division. They went undefeated all weekend. Natalie Haben earned Tournament MVP with Haley Kauth and Brittany McLean also earning All-Tournament Team honors.

4th Annual 12’s Cup

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 12-1 team for winning the 4th Annual 12’s cup. They played the Northern Lights 11-1 team in the championship match of the Gold Division. The 12-2 team finished 2nd in the Silver Division. Four Northern Lights players were named to the 2013 12’s Cup All Tournament Team.

Northern Lights Wins 14’s, 16, & 18’s Divisions of SMV Spring Tournament

Northern Lights teams again traveled to Rochester for the one-day, SMV Spring Tournament, winning the three top divisions.

Congratulations to the 14-2 team for winning the 14 Gold Division. They played the 14-Black team in the finals. The 14 Red team finished 3rd, and the 14 White & 13 Black teams finished 5th. The 13-2 team won the 14 Silver Division.

Congratulations to the 16-Red team for winning the 16 Gold Division. They played the 16-White team in the finals. The 15-Red and 15-White teams finished third.

Congratulations to the 18-2 team for winning the 18 Gold Division having to beat the 18-Black team in the final. 18 Red finished third losing a close 3 set match to 18 Black.

Zumba & Ice Cream during the NL Annual Ice Cream Social

The younger teams had a fun Tuesday night as they skipped SAQ in favor of Zumba, and then had Ice Cream with Strawberries, Bananas, chocolate & whip cream to finish off our crazy dress night. Northern Lights Wins Gold, Silver, & Bronze in 14’s & 16’s Divisions of the Rochester Cup

Northern Lights teams traveled to Rochester for the two-day, Rochester Cup, winning both of the top divisions and placing all 4 of our teams in the 16’s into the semi finals.

Congratulations to the 14-1 team for winning the 16’s Division, defeating the NL 15-2 team in the finals.  NL 14-1, NL 16-Black, NL 15-2, and NL 15-Black all made the final four. The 16-Black team placed third defeating the 15-Black team in the 3rd/4th place match.

Congratulations to the 13-1 team for placing 2nd and taking home the Silver medals in the 14 Gold Division in the first weekend of the Rochester Cup.

Northern Lights Wins all Divisions at the AAU Super Regional

Northern Lights hosted the 2nd Annual Northern Lights AAU Super Regional on the weekends of May 4/5 and 11/12. During the first weekend of competition NL won all 3 age divisions. During the second weekend of competition NL won both age divisions.

Congratulations to the 18-1 team for winning the 18’s division. They defeated M1 181 in the finals.

Congratulations to the 17-Black for placing 3rd in the 17’s division.

Congratulations to the 16-1 team for winning the 16’s division. They defeated the NL 16-2 team in the finals in a great 3 set match.

Northern Lights 16-1’s awarded 16 Open Bid

Congratulations to the 16-1 team for being awarded an At Large Bid into the 16 Open Division of the USJN Championships. The 16-1 team had missed qualifying at two the toughest Qualifers, Big South and Northern Lights, by just 1 position at each event.

With this Open Bid, Northern Lights has now qualified a team in each of the 5 Open Divisions (14 Open, 15 Open, 16 Open, 17 Open, & 18 Open) at the USJN Championships the #1 tournament in the USA.

NL medals 3 teams at the Northern Lights Qualifier & puts 10 teams in the Gold!

Congratulations to the 18-1 team for winning the Northern Lights National Qualifier 18 Open Division by defeating Sky High in the finals. This is the 2nd National Qualifier that the 18-1 team has won and Qualified at for the 18 Open Division of the USJN Championships in Dallas late this June.

Congratulations to the 17-1 team for winning the Northern Lights National Qualifier 17 Open Division by defeating KC Power in the finals. This is the 2nd National Qualifier that the 17-1 team has Qualified at for the 17 Open Division of the USJN Championships in Dallas late this June.

Congratulations to the 17-Black team for placing third at the Northern Lights National Qualifier 17 USA Division to take home a bronze medal. They defeated Platform Elite in the 3rd place match. The 17-Black team was also previously qualified for the USJN Championships in Dallas late this June.

10 of our 14 teams who played in this event were in the Gold Brackets/Pools and NL had teams in the Gold of all 9 divisions of the tournament!

Northern Lights wins 3 of the 5 Divisions entered at the North Country Region Metro Championships.

The weekend of April 27-28 was very successful for 7 of our younger Northern Lights teams. The club entered 5 age divisions at the NCR Metro Championships and won 3 of the divisions and was 2nd in the other two! This was another great performance by our younger teams.

Congratulations to the 12-1 team for winning the 12 Blue Gold Division. They defeated Wicked Moose in the finals.

Congratulations to the 12-2 team for winning the 12 Blue Silver Division. They defeated Team Edge in the finals.

Congratulations to the 13-Black team for placing 2nd in the 13 Blue Gold Division. They lost to Cannon Falls Crush in the finals.

Congratulations to the 14-Red team for placing 2nd in the 14 Blue Gold Division. They lost to M1-141 in the finals.

Congratulations to the 14-White team for winning the 14 Blue Silver Division. They defeated Kokoro 141 in the finals.

NL 14-2 Wins Northern Lights Qualifier & NL puts 6 teams in the Gold!

Congratulations to the 14-2 team for winning the Northern Lights National Qualifier 14 USA Division by defeating Iowa Rockets in the finals.

Congratulations to the 14-1 team for placing 2nd in the 14 Open Division. This 2nd place finish Qualified them for the 14 Open Division of the USJN Championships in Dallas late this June.

Six of our 16 teams who played in this event were in the Gold Brackets/Pools and 3 were in the Silver Brackets.

NL 17-1 Places 2nd and Qualifies at Big South!

Congratulations to the 17-1 team for placing 2nd in the 17 Open Division at the Big South National Qualifier. This also Qualified them for the USJN Championships in the 17 Open Division to be held this June in Dallas Texas.

NL 18’s teams travel to Italy

The Northern Lights 18-1, 18-2, 18-Black, & 18-Red teams will be traveling and competing in Italy from March 24- April 2 with BringitUSA. They will be spending the first few days sightseeing in Rome, Milan, and Venice. After that they will be competing in a high level tournament in Pordenone Italy (18-1), Falconara (18-2), Milan (18-Black), and Albisola (18-Red) with Junior teams from Italy and around the world. NL 15-1 Places 3rd and Qualifies at Colorado Crossroads!

Congratulations to the 15-1 team for placing 3rd in the 15 Open Division at the Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier. This also Qualified them for the USJN Championships in the 15 Open Division to be held this June in Dallas Texas.

Northern Lights sent 4 teams to the tournament and had 3 of them in the Gold Championship Brackets, and one in the Silver Bracket.

NL wins 8 divisions of the Omaha President’s Day Tournament

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 12-1 team for winning the 12’s Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. They played Nebraska Elite in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 14-1 team for winning the 14 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 14-1’s played MN Select 141 in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 15-1 team for winning the 15 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. They played Colorado Jrs in the finals. This is the 2nd year in a row that the 15-1 team has played Colorado Jrs in the finals, and both times NL has won.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 16-2 team for winning the 16 Club Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 16-2’s went undefeated in the tournament and played our own 16-Black team in the finals….so Congratulations also to the 16 Black team for placing 2nd.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 17-1 team for winning the 17 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 17-1’s went undefeated in the tournament and played KC Power in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 17-2 team for winning the 17 Club Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 17-2 team played our own 17-Black team in the finals . . . so once again Congratulations also to the 17 Black team for placing 2nd.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 18-1 team for winning the 18 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. They went undefeated for the tournament and played Iowa Rockets in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 18-2 team for winning the 18 Club Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. 18-2 played Club Iowa Jrs in the finals.

Northern Lights placed 20 of it’s 24 teams into the Gold Brackets of the tournament. This was an excellent showing for all Northern Lights teams!

Northern Lights 13-Black wins the local President’s Day Tournament

Northern Lights 6 teams in the local Presidents Day tournament, and place all 6 of those teams in the Gold Brackets. This was an excellent showing for our young Northern Lights teams!

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 13-Black for winning the 13’s age division. They defeated M1 13-1 in the finals.

Congratulations also to the Northern Lights 14-Red team which finished 2nd in the 14’s age division.

October 28, 2012 —-11’s-14’s Tryouts completed

Congratulations to the 111 new players ages 10-14 selected for the Northern Lights 2013 teams. The first practice for the 11’s-14’s will be on Tuesday October 30th.
