From July 10-July 21 Northern Lights will be touring Amsterdam, Belgium, Paris, Geneva, and Milan playing various European Youth teams.

 June 18-27 AAU National Championship Trip

This year Northern Lights placed 11 of it’s 22 teams into the Gold Brackets at the AAU National Championships, and won four National Championships and medaled a total of 7 teams. Congratulations to 18-1, 18-2, 17-1, 17-2, 17-Red, 17-White, 16-2, 15-1, 15-Red, 15-2 & 13-1’s for making it into the Gold Championship Brackets.

 June 3, 2012 – Northern Lights Year End Banquet

The 2012 Northern Lights Year End Banquet was a huge success with 760+ people attending. The 17-Black’s winning team video was an overwhelming favorite, the 150 scrapbook pages were very impressive and the raffle prizes were a hit. Thanks to everyone who helped with the banquet and congratulations to Thuy Vo for winning the 2012 Northern Lights Quilt.

We also would like to extend our congratulations to Alex Berger who was voted by the coaches to receive the 2012 Maurice Batie Award of Excellence at the Banquet. The award was presented to Alex by Taylor Voss, last year’s winner. Pictures of the banquet can be viewed by clicking here

Northern Lights Wins Gold and Silver at National Junior Classic

Congratulations to the 17-2s team for winning the 17 Club Division in an all Northern Lights Championship beating the 17-Black Team. Lauren Houg earned Tournament MVP while Sara Biermaier, Nora Reed, Alex Brown and Maggie Perrel earned All-Tournament Team honors.

Congratulations to the 16-2s team for winning the 16 Club Division. Samantha Flattum earned Tournament MVP while Sydney Foss and Kelly Madison earned All-Tournament Team honors.

Congratulations to the 16-1s team for finishing 2nd in the 16 Open Division. Kylee Zumach and Lydia Dimke earned All-Tournament Team honors.

Congratulations to the 15-1s team for finishing 2nd in the 15 Open Division. Natalie Haben and Jessica Wolf earned All-Tournament Team honors.

3rd Annual 12’s Cup

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 12-1 team for winning the 3rd Annual 12’s cup. They defeated Cannon Crush 12-1 in two sets for the championship. The 12-2 team finished 6th and the 11-1 team finished 8th.

Northern Lights Wins Gold Divisions of SMV Spring Tournament

Northern Lights teams again traveled to Rochester for the one-day, SMV Spring Tournament, winning the three top divisions.

Congratulations to the 14-2 team for winning the 14 Gold Division. The 13-2 and 14-Black teams finished third.

Congratulations to the 15-Black team for winning the 16 Gold Division. The 16-White team finished second, while the 15-Red and 15-White teams finished third.

Congratulations to the 18-2s for winning the 18 Gold Division having to beat the 18-Black team in the final.

 

Northern Lights Wins Gold Divisions of 14th Annual Rochester Cup

Northern Lights teams traveled to Rochester for the two-day, 14th Annual Rochester Cup, winning both of the top divisions.

Congratulations to the 16-Red team for winning the 16 Gold Division, defeating the NL 15-2 team in the final.  NL 16-Black, NL 15-2, and NL 16-Red all made the final four, with 15-2 defeating 16-Black in the first semi-final.

Congratulations to the 13-1 team for winning the 14 Gold Division, defeating the WA Lightning 14-1 in the final.

Northern Lights Wins All Divisions at the AAU Super Regional

Northern Lights hosted the 1st Annual Northern Lights AAU Super Regional on the weekends of May 5/6 and 12/13, with our teams sweeping ALL of the divisions!

Congratulations to the 18-1 team for winning the 18’s division. They defeated MN Select 18-1 in the final.

Congratulations to the 17-1 team for winning the 17’s division. They defeated M1 17-1 in the final.

Congratulations to the 16-1 team for winning the 16’s division. They defeated M1 16-1 in the final.

Congratulations to the 15-2 team for winning the 15’s division. They defeated our 15-1 team an a tremendous 23-25, 27-25, 18-16 final match.

Congratulations to the 14-1 team for winning the 14’s division. They defeated our 14-2 team in the final.

Northern Lights wins all Divisions at the North Country Region Metro Championships.

The weekend of April 28-29 was very successful for all of the Northern Lights teams. The club won all age divisions we were entered in. NCR calls the top Division the “Red” Division and the 2nd level the “Blue” Division.

Congratulations to the 18-2 team for winning the 18’s division. They defeated our NL 18-Black team in the finals.

Congratulations to the 17-1 team for winning the 17 Red Division. They defeated M1 171 in the finals.

Congratulations to the 17-White team for winning the 17 Blue Division. They defeated Burnsville 17 in the finals.

Congratulations to the 16-1 team for winning the 16 Red Division. They defeated M1 161 in the finals.

Congratulations to the 15-1 team for winning the 15 Red Division. They defeated our NL 15-Black team in the finals.

Congratulations to the 15-White team for winning the 15 Blue Division.

Congratulations to the 14-1 team for winning the 14 Red Division. They defeated Club 43 in the finals.

Congratulatioins to the 13-1 team for winning the 13 Red Division. They defeated NL 13 Red in the finals.

Congratulations to the 12-1 team for winning the 12 Red Division. They defeated Lakeville North 12’s in the finals.

24 of the 29 NL teams were in the Gold Championship brackets and many ended up playing each other in the quarter & semi finals.

NL 15-2 Wins Northern Lights Qualifier & puts 4 teams in the Gold!

Congratulations to the 15-2 team for winning the Northern Lights National Qualifier 15 National Division by defeating TAV 15 Blue in the finals. Their 1st place finish qualified them for the 15 National Division at the USJN Championships in Columbus late this June.

Congratulations to the 15-Black team for placing 3rd in the 15 National Division. They won the 3rd/4th place match against OVA 15 Molten.

Four of our nine teams who played in this event were in the Gold Brackets, and two other teams won their Silver Division Brackets.

NL 18-1 & 13-1 Win Northern Lights Qualifier & puts 13 teams in the Gold and 7 teams into the Finals!

A total of 13 of the 20 teams who played in this event were in the Gold Brackets. Seven of those teams were in the Finals of their division. 7 Northern Lights teams medaled.

Congratulations to the 18-1 team for winning the Northern Lights National Qualifier 18 National Division. They played the finals against Northern Lights 18-2’s!

So, Congratulations are also in order to the 18-2 team for placing 2nd at the Northern Lights National Qualifier 18 National Division, losing to our 18-1 team in the finals.

Congratulations to the 17-1 team for placing 2nd at the Northern Lights National Qualifier 17 Open Division. This is the 2nd Qualifier they have “Qualified” at for the USJN Championships in Columbus late this June.

Congratulations to the 16-1 team for placing 2nd at the Northern Lights National Qualifier 16 Open Division. This is the 2nd Qualifier they have “Qualified” at for the USJN Championships in Columbus late this June.

Congratulations to the 16-2 team for placing 2nd at the Northern Lights National Qualifier 16 National Division. Their 2nd place finish qualified them for the 16 National Division at the USJN Championships in Columbus late this June.

Congratulations to the 13-1 team for winning the Northern Lights National Qualifier 13 National Division. The 13-1’s lost only one set the entire tournament and defeated Gainesville Juniors in the finals! Way to go Ladies.

Congratulations to the 12-1 team for placing 2nd at the Northern Lights National Qualifier 12 National Division. They lost to Rockwood Thunder in the Finals.

NL 18-1 & 18-2 travel to Italy

The Northern Lights 18-1, 18-2 & 18-Black teams will be traveling and competing in Italy from April 1- April 10 with BringitUSA. They will be spending the first few days sightseeing in Rome, Florence, and Venice. After that they will be competing in a high level tournament in Pordenone Italy (18-1) and Falconara (18-2) and Milan (18-Black) with Junior teams from around the world. Big South Results:  NL 17-1, 16-1 & 14-2 all Qualify in Open

Northern Lights 17-1, 17-Black, 16-1, 15-Black and 14-1 teams traveled to Atlanta to compete in the Big South National Qualifier. The 17-1 team finished 2nd, receiving an Open Bid for the USA Volleyball National Tournament in Columbus.  The 16-1 team finished 3rd also receiving an Open Bid for the USA Volleyball National Tournament in Columbus.  The 14-1 team also finished 3rd and also received an Open Bid for the USA Volleyball National Tournament in Columbus.

The 15-Black and 17-Black teams also had a very good weekend. Both teams were in the Gold Championship Brackets. The 17-Black team finished 5th, and the 15-Black team finished 9th.

NL 15-1 & 17-2 Place 2nd at Colorado Crossroads!

Congratulations to the 15-1 team for placing 2nd at the Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier 15 Open Division. This also Qualified them for the USJN Championships in the 15 Open Division to be held this June in Columbus Ohio.

Congratulations to the 17-2 team for placing 2nd at the Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier 17 National Division.

Northern Lights sent 7 teams to the tournament and had 4 of them in the Gold Championship Brackets, and one in the Silver Bracket.

NL wins 6 divisions of the Omaha President’s Day Tournament

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 15-1 team for winning the 15 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. They played Colorado Jrs in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 16-1 team for winning the 16 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 16-1’s went undefeated in the tournament and played Colorado Jrs in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 17-1 team for winning the 17 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 17-1’s went undefeated in the tournament and played Invasion in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 16-2 team for winning the 16 Club Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 16-2’s went undefeated in the tournament and played Nebraska Elite in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 17-Black team for winning the 17 Club Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 17-Black team went undefeated in the tournament and played OK Charge in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 18-Black team for winning the 18 Club Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. 18-Black played Iowa Rockets in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 15-2 team for placing second in the 15 Club Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 15-2’s went undefeated in the tournament until their last match against Norco in the finals.

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 14-1 team for placing second in the 14 Open Division of the Omaha President’s Day tournament. The 14-1’s lost their last match against Nebraska Elite in the finals.

Northern Lights placed 19 of it’s 23 teams into the Gold Brackets of the tournament. This was an excellent showing for all Northern Lights teams!

November 19, 2011 —-Emilee Gutzmer ties State Record

Congratulations to Emilee Gutzmer, setter for Northern Lights 18-2’s, for tieing the State Record for the most assists in a High School Season. She had 1190 which tied Courtney Cowles who set the record in 2004. (Courtney is now a coach at Northern Lights.) Way to go Emilee!

November 13, 2011 —-15’s-18’s Tryouts completed

Congratulations to Leigh Pudwill who was selected by the MN Coaches Association as the 2011 Ms. Volleyball. Leigh plays for Centennial High School. Last year she played for NL 17-1 and will be completing her club career on a NL 18’s team this year.
