USAV All Tournament Team Selections, addendum 8-23

This year at the USJO National Championships Northern Lights had 5 All Tournament Selections. Four of them were from the 17-1 team, and are listed below. The other selection was Jessi Peterson from the 16-2 team which placed 5th in the National Division. Northern Lights would like to congratulate Jessi on her award which we recieved this past week and presented to her at her high school practice. Jessi is an outside hitter for Northern Lights and for her Eden Prairie High School team. Way to go Jessi!

USA Junior National Team

Congratulations to Lauren Gibbemeyer for being selected to the USA Women’s Junior National Team. Lauren is one of twelve athletes from around the nation that were selected to play on this team. The Junior National Team is the top team in the USA High Performance program. They will be traveling to Monterrey Mexico to play in the Norceca Junior Championships on July 29-August 6.

Lauren plays for Northern Lights on our 17-1 team which won the 17’s 2006 USA National Championship on July 5. She attends Cretin-Derham Hall High School.

Northern Lights 16’s & 17’s European Tour

From July 9-July 21 Northern Lights and Front Range Volleyball will be touring Germany, Austria & Italy playing various European Youth National teams who will be meeting us in various cities. As time permits we will also post pictures and updates on this website.

Northern Lights 17-1’s USJO National Champions!

Congratulations to the 17-1 team for winning the 2006 USJO National Championships in an exciting 4 game match against a very good Club Fusion team. The 17-1’s finished off their season going undefeated in 17 & Under competition, and with only one loss to Sports Performance 18-1’s at the NJC’s.

Members of the team are: Hailey Cowles, Tawny Dahmes, Brook Dieter, Lauren Gibbemeyer, Susan Halverson, Naomi Johnson, Allie Oelke, Amanda Schroeder, Alicia Nelson and Kresson Vreeman. Head Coach Adam Beamer Asst Coaches Nicole Gilmore & Bryan Kellen.

Hailey Cowles, Lauren Gibbemeyer, & Allie Oelke were named to the All Tournament Team. Brook Dieter was named to the All Tournament Team as MVP! Congratulations to not only these four girls, but to all of the team members who worked hard for 7 months to make this win a reality.

May 20 & 21, 2006 – Northern Lights teams win all their tournaments

It was a great weekend for the Northern Lights teams. They won every tournament the teams were entered in, and in several events a Northern Lights team was also 2nd.

Congratulations to the 13-1 team for winning the Midwest Volleyball 14’s Spring Tournament on May 20th.

Congratulations to the 17-3, 16-4, 14-2, and 12-1 teams for winning their Age Divisions at the SMV Spring Tournament on May 21st.

Congratulations to the 16-3, 13-2, & 12-2 teams for taking 2nd place (losing in the finals to one of the above NL teams) at the SMV Spring Tournament on May 21st. Also congratulations to the 14-3 team who placed 3rd and lost to the 14-2 team in the semi finals.

May 13, 2006 – Northern Lights teams place 1st & 2nd again

Congratulations to the 14-3 team for winning the Midwest Volleyball 14’s Spring Tournament on May 13th.

Congratulations to the 13-2 team for placing 2nd in the Midwest Volleyball 14’s Spring Tournament on May 13th. The 13-2’s lost in a very close finals match to the 14-3’s.

Congratulations to the 15-3 team for placing 2nd in the Midwest Volleyball 16’s Spring Tournament on May 13th.

May 6 & 7, 2006 – Northern Lights teams sweep tournaments

Congratulations to the 16-2 team for winning the 16’s Division of the Rochester Cup. The 16-2’s had a close finals match against Northern Lights 14-1’s who took 2nd.

Congratulations to the 12-2 team for winning the Midwest Volleyball 12’s Spring Tournament on May 6th.

Congratulations to the 12-1 team for placing 2nd in the Midwest Volleyball 14’s Spring Tournament on May 6th. This was an excellent finish for the 12-1’s in their first 14’s age division tournament!

Congratulations to the 16-3 team for winning the Midwest Volleyball 16’s Spring Tournament on May 7th.

Congratulations to the 18-2 team for winning the Midwest Volleyball 18’s Spring Tournament on May 7th. The 18-2’s had to defeat Northern Lights 17-2’s who took 2nd.

It was another excellent weekend for KNL teams at the Northern Lights Qualifier. We had 6 teams in the Gold Championship Brackets and 3 of those teams ended up in the Gold Championship Finals!

Once again we had an awesome takedown crew. With virtually the entire club watching the 16-2 finals, you still got all of the courts down and into the crates in less than 2 hours! Northern Lights continues to be the #1 club in takedown of these large events. Thanks to all the parents & players for their help in making this happen.

Northern Lights 14-1’s take 2nd at the Northern Lights Qualifier. This was a Qualifying position, but the 14-1’s had already qualified 4 weeks ago in Denver.

All of the KNL teams performed very well at the Qualifier.

What an awesome takedown crew we had for the 1st weekend of the Northern Lights Qualifier. All of the courts were down and in the crates within 50 minutes of the last ball dropping!

Great job by the 15’s & 14-3 players & parents who did the set up on Wednesday night! We finished at 7:30 pm, with the courts basically ready for competition. Good luck in the tournament!

Northern Lights 18-1’s & 16-1’s win the North Country Regional Championships and qualify for the National Division of USJO Nationals!

Northern Lights 18-1, defeated M-1 18-1 in the final match. Immediately after winning, the team ran through the showers and headed to the airport to catch a flight to Italy where they will be playing in an international club tournament.

Northern Lights 16-2’s also qualified for the American Division of USJO Nationals by taking 3rd place in the Regional Championships.

Northern Lights 17-2’s also qualified for the American Division of USJO Nationals by taking 4th place in the Regional Championships.

Northern Lights has qualified a region high 8 teams for USJO Nationals 2 out of the past 3 years!

Northern Lights 15-2’s also qualified for the American Division of USJO Nationals. They defeated M-1 15-1’s in the Silver Division final match to take 4th place overall.
