June 9th – Banquet

The 2005 Northern Lights Year End Banquet was a huge success. The Theme Baskets were awesome and Napoleon was great! Thanks to everyone who helped with the banquet, and thanks to all the players and parents who made it run so smooth.

We also would like extend our congratulations to Cayla Schroeder who was voted by the coaches to receive the 2005 Maurice Batie Award of Excellence at the Banquet. The award was presented to Cayla by Callie Kunde, last year’s winner. Pictures of the banquet can be viewed by clicking here

16-1 Wins National Junior Classic

Over Memorial weekend our 18-1, 17-1 and 16-1 competed in Sports Preformance’s National Junior Classic. The NJC is one of the premier events held around the country. Teams are only accepted into this tournament by invitation. The 18-1’s and 17-1’s competed well versus tough competition and both finished 7th. The 16-1’s won the tournament defeating Club Fusion in 5 games for the title. Haley Cowles was named tournament MVP and Lauren Gibbemeyer was named best blocker in the 16’s division.

May 21-22, 2005 – Kaepa Northern Lights teams win at home and in Rochester!

Congratulations to the 17-3 team for winning the 18’s Division of the SMV Rochester Tournament on Sunday May 22nd.

Congratulations to the 16-3 team for placing 2nd in the 16’s Division of the SMV Rochester Tournament on Sunday May 22nd.

Congratulations to the 15-2 and 15-3 teams for both placing 3rd in the 16’s Division of the SMV Rochester Tournament on Sunday May 22nd.

Congratulations to the 14-2 team for winning the 14’s Division of the SMV Rochester Tournament on Sunday May 22nd.

Congratulations to the 16-2 team for winning the 16’s Division of the Midwest Volleyball Spring Tournament on Saturday May 21st.

Congratulations to the 15-1 and 14-1 for teams for placing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 16’s Division of the Midwest Volleyball Spring Tournament on Saturday May 21st. Our 17-2 placed 5th in the 18’s Division of the same tournament.

Congratulations to the 13-1 team for going undefeted winning the 14’s Division of the Midwest Volleyball Spring Tournament on Saturday May 21st. Our 13-2 placed 4th in the 14’s Division of the same tournament.

Congratulations to the 12-1 team for winning the 12’s Division of the Midwest Volleyball Spring Tournament on Saturday May 21st. Our 12-2 placed 2nd and gave the 12-1’s a real run for their money.

May 14-15, 2005 – Kaepa Northern Lights teams sweep tournaments again!

Congratulations to the 15-2 team for winning the Midwest Volleyball 16’s Spring Tournament on May 14th. It was a tough 3 game match against the NL 15-3 team. Both teams played an exceptional match!

Congratulations to the 13-2 team for winning the 14’s Division of the SMV Rochester Tournament on Sunday May 15th.

Congratulations to the 12-1 team for winning the 12’s Division of the SMV Rochester Tournament on Sunday May 15th. The 12-1 team played our 11’s (who placed 2nd) in the finals. Once again it was a good match with the 12’s barely edging out the 11’s.

May 7-8, 2005 – Kaepa Northern Lights teams sweep tournaments!

Congratulations to the 14-2 team for winning the Midwest Volleyball 14’s Spring Tournament on May 7th.

Congratulations to the 16-2 team for winning the 16’s Division of the Rochester Cup defeating Southern Minn Jrs in the finals on Sunday May 8th.

Congratulations to the 13-1 team for winning the 14’s Division of the Rochester Cup defeating Eden Prairie 14’s in the finals on Sunday May 8th.

April 25, 2005 – Kaepa Northern Lights National Qualifier Results

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 16-1 Team for placing 2nd in the 16 Open Division and Qualifying for the USJO Open Division Championships in Salt Lake City this summer. The 16-1 team members are: Mollie Bjelland, Hailey Cowles, Tawny Dahmes, Brook Dieter, Lauren Gibbemeyer, Susan Halverson, Naomi Johnson, Allie Oelke, Amanda Schroeder, Natalie Simpson, Kresson Vreeman, Adam Beamer (Head coach), Nicole Gilmore (Asst coach), Bryan Kellen (Asst coach).

Congratulations to the Northern Lights 17-2 Team for winning 3rd place in the 17 Club Division. The 17-2 team has already qualified for the American Club Division at the USJO Championships. The 17-2 team members are: Rachel Albin, Laura Barsness, Stephanie Beckendorf, Sarah Collar, Keri Dowzak, Marie Godwin, Allison Kunde, Stephanie Mason, Laura Reichert, Jolene Swan, Christine Denson (Head coach), Steve Schroeder (Asst coach).

Other noteable finishes by KNL teams were: 18-2’s 5th place, 17-1’s 9th place, and 13-1’s 5th place.

April 3, 2005 – North Country Regional Results

Northern Lights is pleased to have Qualified 7 teams for USJO Nationals in Salt Lake City through the North Country Regional Bid Tournament. Congratulations to all the teams who qualified, and who will be looking for “Success in Salt Lake”

March 29, 2005 – Big South Results

Five Northern Lights teams traveled to Atlanta for the Asics Big South Junior National Qualifier. 570 teams participated in the event, with all matches being played at the World Congress Center.

Six Northern Lights teams traveled to Denver for the Asics Crossroads Junior National Qualifier. 770 teams participated in the event, with all matches being played on 103 courts under one roof . . . the largest event of its kind ever!

January 6, 2005 – MLK Day Elite Series

Northern Lights welcomes Milwaukee Sting, Sports Performance, Nebraska Elite, Iowa Rockets and M1 to the MLK Day Elite Series.

November 14, 2004 – Tryouts are over!

Northern Lights would like to welcome all of our 15’s, 16’s, 17’s, & 18’s to the club. We had over 170 players show up for the 15’s-18’s tryout. The number of players was so large that we even added one more 15’s team! Team lists can be viewed by clicking on the “2005 Team Rosters” link on the left side of this page.

We still have one position open on our 18-2 team. If you are interested in playing on this team please contact our office at 952-898-5460.

Kaepa Northern Lights would like to welcome to the program, our 11’s, 12’s, 13’s, and 14’s teams. Over 110 players attended the tryouts on November 6th, and 68 players were selected. Team list can be viewed by clicking on the “2005 Team Rosters” link on the left side of this page.

Our 15’s – 18’s tryouts will be held Sunday November 14th. We encourage everyone who wants to play with and against the best in the nation to come tryout!
