    Playing Bio:

  • That's pretty funny! I played football, basketball and baseball in high school and baseball in college. However, the first volleyball match that I coached in 1978 was the first match I had ever seen. We lost the first set 18-0, and then won the match!

    Favorite Volleyball Moment:
That's really a tough call. We played in 13 State Tournaments from 2002-2017, and we were in the State Championship match the first 12 times we were there, winning seven of those matches. Our streak ran out in 2017 when we took 3rd. We actually made it to the finals eight years in a row from 2002-09, winning the championship in the odd-numbered years and being runner-up in the even-numbered years. That first championship in 2003 was pretty amazing. We were 32-1, and many coaches around the state, as well as the media, thought we were the best team in any class. Whether that was true or not, it was certainly humbling to be thought of like that. It's been incredible to be able to compete against the best teams, players and coaches in Minnesota in all three classes over all of these years, and I've learned so much from other coaches around the state. I've also been so blessed to work with so many fantastic young women and great assistant coaches, and going back to being an assistant this fall at New Prague was also an awesome experience. The Minnesota volleyball community is fantastic!
